The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has a new card drivers can keep with them about highway-rail grade crossing safety.

The card, which is small enough to tuck into a visor pocket, has seven tips for preventing train-truck collisions on one side. On the other side, it explains what to do if the vehicle stalls or hangs up on the tracks.
It also lists emergency phone numbers for major railroads that drivers who are hung up on the tracks can call to notify them of a vehicle stuck on the tracks.
The visor card can be downloaded in pdf format from the FMCSA's web site, www.fmcsa.dot.gov/documents/outreach/visor-vert-both-04.pdf.
