In an effort to help improve child safety in Guilford County in North Carolina, Volvo Trucks North America today donated more than 750 child safety seats to local community service organizations.

The organizations will distribute the child safety seats to low-income families across the county who meet specific eligibility requirements and expect the donation to completely cover the county’s need for the next year.
The first 50 child safety seats were distributed to families at Volvo’s North American headquarters in Greensboro, as part of “Volvo Safety Day,” a family-oriented series of activities focused on children’s safety and open to the public.
“Safety is a core value for Volvo, and our aim is to improve the welfare of children in Guilford County by working with local government agencies and charitable groups to make sure that every child is safely restrained and protected when traveling in a car,” said Peter Karlsten, president and CEO of Volvo Trucks North America.
“For more than 75 years, Volvo has been dedicated to the safety of those who drive our trucks and those who share the road with them,” Karlsten said. “Volvo invented the most effective vehicle occupant safety device ever, the three-point safety belt, and this donation is part of our effort to extend our safety commitment beyond our products and our workplace to our community.”
