A coalition of organizations is conducting a study on truck safety, technology and industry attitudes.
The project sponsored by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is expected to help meet their goal of reducing commercial motor vehicle fatalities by 41 percent. The study will improve industry understanding of the impacts, benefits and costs of safety technologies, as well as their future market potential.
The FMCSA is working with the American Transportation Research Institute, private contractor SAIC and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Association to gather information from carriers regarding perceptions of commercial motor vehicle crash risk, in-vehicle safety systems and technology investment considerations.
More information and a questionnaire is available on the American Trucking Associations web site at www.truckline.com. (In the blue bar under the truck yard photo, select Public Affairs, then click on Press Releases.)
