The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration sent its proposed changes to the current hours of service regulations to the White House Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) last Friday.
Before the new proposed rule can be made public, OMB must first review the proposal and authorize its publication for comment. OMB has three months to
review the proposal and give its blessing or disapproval.
As of this time, details of the FMCSA's proposed rule are being kept under wraps.
However, insiders say the new version is much simpler and more trucking-friendly than the previous proposal, which generated a great deal of controversy and concern in the industry.
