A British study found that motorists talking on mobile phones while driving are more dangerous than drunk drivers.

According to Reuters, the Transport Research Laboratory in Berkshire, England, did the study, which was commissioned by an insurance company.
It found drivers' average reaction times were 30 percent slower when talking on a hand-held mobile phone compared to when they had been drinking alcohol. Chatting drivers also were less able to maintain a constant speed and safe following distance.
Tests showed that hands-free mobile phones were also a considerable distraction.
