The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Special Programs Administration will hold a public meeting Jan. 16 to discuss international standards for the transport of dangerous goods.

The primary purpose of the meeting is to review outcomes of proposals presented at the 20th session of the United Nation’s Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, held in December. Topics to be covered include criteria for environmentally hazardous substances, intermodal requirements for the transport of solids in bulk containers, harmonized requirements for compressed gas cylinders, portable tank requirements, classification of individual substances, haz-mat packaging, requirements for infectious substances, and hazard communication requirements.
