The American Trucking Associations' held its first bilingual "How to Drive" demonstration yesterday in San Antonio.

Ron Presley and Ely Salinas, who conducted the demonstration, have more than 3.5 million accident-free miles and 34 years of driving experience between them. Presley is an over-the-road driver with ABF Freight System and a member of the ATA's America's Road Team. Salinas, a local driver for Wal-Mart, is also a safety trainer and presenter and a member of Wal-Mart's Safe Miles Award.
Duplicating a highway scenario with cars and trucks, they demonstrated to local motorists the four blind spots (No-Zones) around tractor-trailers where cars "disappear" from a truck driver's view. The demonstration was conducted in both English and Spanish.
In the past two years, ATA's "How to Drive" program, a partnership with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, has reached 30 million U.S. households with its lifesaving message, according to the association.
