The public meeting tomorrow in Chicago on the Commercial Drivers License will take place, after all.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration had considered canceling the meeting due to a lack of attendance, but enough people signed up at the last minute, said agency spokesman David Longo.
The purpose is to get comments on the state’s CDL issuance practices, driver testing, literacy and translation requirements.
The meeting will be held at the Ramada Plaza Hotel (O’Hare) in Rosemont, Ill., from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Scheduled to speak are Fred Serpe, executive director of the Illinois Transportation Assn.; a representative from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office, which is pushing Illinois to re-test commercial drivers; Jim Doyle, Wisconsin Attorney General; Bob Knoop, Truck Safety Programs; and Don Schaefer, Associate Director, Mid-West Truckers Assn.
