Nearly 7,000 Freightliner Century Class trucks with model years from 1996-1998 have been recalled for windshield wiper problems.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the windshield wiper connecting linkage sockets didn’t get enough grease during assembly. They can wear out prematurely, which can lead to separation of the linkage and a wiper that won’t work.
Dealers will replace the connecting linkages with new links that are properly lubricated. Owner notification began Jan. 21. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Freightliner at 1-800-547-0712.
