Stoughton Designs Stronger Rear Underride Guard

The new guard includes two additional bolt-on vertical supports on the outer ends of the horizontal bar.

The patent-pending guard underwent extensive testing internally and through multiple independent testing agencies, including crash testing performed at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s facility in Virginia.

NHTSA Proposes More Effective Rear Impact Guards

The proposed rules would prevent "passenger compartment intrusion" of a car that rear-ends a trailer for 5 mph more than now.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has proposed rules that would require “more robust” rear impact guards on trailers and semitrailers. The stronger guards would remain effective at up to 35 mph – compared to 30 mph for current guards.

Ford Adds Advanced Camera System to Super Duty Trucks

House Bill Allows Twin 33s Nationwide; Keeps Restart Suspension Active

NHTSA to Issue New Rules on Underride Guards

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tested underride guards and found many lacking.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has granted a petition from the Truck Safety Coalition and will issue an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking pertaining to rear impact/underride guards and other safety strategies for single unit trucks.

North Dakota Trucking Operation Cited by OSHA Following Worker Death

Plains Trucking, Ross, N.D.. has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration for nine safety violations after a worker was fatally injured March 27 while cleaning the inside of a crude oil tanker that exploded at the company's facility in Ross.
