New Rules for Trip Permits in Oregon

An Oregon DOT motor carrier enforcement officer weighs a truck as a it passes through a Port of Entry.

The Oregon Department of Transportation recently began limiting the number of temporary passes/trip permits a motor carrier can purchase in a 12-month period – a move that one association representative calls “a money grab” that will affect small-business motor carriers located outside the state.

CARB Will Hold Carriers Responsible for Dispatching Non-Compliant Owner Operators

Businesses that dispatch vehicles or owner operators in California must verify that each contracted vehicle is in compliance with the California Truck & Bus regulation or has reported compliance to the California Air Resources Board.

Survey Shows Fleet Use of E-logs, CSA Compliance Methods and Costs along with Expansion Plans

Newly released results from a survey of fleets show more are adopting e-logs to monitor driver compliance with hours-of-service regulations. The survey also reveals what they are doing and how much it costs to comply with the CSA program, as well as plans for adding capacity that include more plan to add independent contractor drivers.
