HOS Log: A Two-Day Trip Becomes a Three-Day Trip

How will the new hours of service rules affect typical 1,000-mile hauls? A few of the new rules can make the timing of a driver's on-duty hours critical to a successful trip. For example, the lane from Chicago to Houston, typically a two-day trip, could be tricky under the new HOS rules.

Ready for New HOS Enforcement on July 1st?

Draw a big, red circle around July 1 on your calendar. That's the date when the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration will officially begin enforcing the new hours of service regulations for all commercial motor vehicles that are involved in interstate commerce.
