Brake Safety Week Is On: Here are Some Tips

Today's Trucking---30,000 brakes will be inspected on trucks across North America this week, and not all will pass. The annual Brake Safety Week held by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will see inspectors taking a closer look at brake systems on your trucks.

CVSA’s Brake Safety Week is Sept. 8-14

This week is Brake Safety Week, one of two enforcement and outreach campaigns dedicated to promoting truck and bus brake safety held by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance each year. The unannounced Brake Check is held each spring and Brake Safety Week each fall.

Bendix Warns About Friction and Shorter Stopping Distance Technology

Bendix engineers are warning truck owners that if they aren't careful about the choice of replacement friction new trucks designed to meet the latest stopping distance requirements, they could negate the improved stopping distance that was designed into the trucks.

NTSB Says Driver Inattention, Bad Brakes Led to Amtrak-Truck Collision

The National Transportation Safety Board blamed bad brakes, driver inattention for deadly train-truck crash.

An inattentive driver and poorly maintained brakes, including antilock brakes that had been rendered inoperable, were the probable cause of a commercial truck hitting an Amtrak passenger train in the Nevada desert last summer, killing six and injuring 16, the National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday
