ALK Technologies has added an hours of service manager to its newly released PC Miler 29, the latest version of its truck routing, mileage and mapping software.

PC Miler’s HOS Manager incorporates mandatory HOS breaks into trip planning, allowing transportation companies to clearly see actual travel times and distance traveled. With the more accurate information, companies will be able to improve asset utilization and more effectively manage assets.

When planning a route, dispatchers will be able to identify if a driver is in violation as well as identify an appropriate stop to break if needed.

PC Miler 29 also includes the ability to search and display points of interest along a route to guide a driver to a preferred and designated stop. Dispatchers can now choose the most cost-effective fuel stop when planning a route using integrated, nationwide live fuel pricing form Pilot and Flying J. Fuel prices are updated every 30 minutes.

The update will allow the choice of avoiding ferries and roads above a specified elevation through the Ferry and Elevation Discouraged routing options. Elevation Discouraged Routing permits users to set customized limits on road elevations during route planning, enabling them to protect goods that could potentially damage a shipment. A revamped Via Points Manager, updated hazardous roadway restrictions as well as database enhancements and routing improvements in North America are also included within the release.

PC Miler runs on Microsoft Windows, UNIX and Linux platforms as well as IBM AS/400 (iSeries) and mainframe computers. PC Miler is also available as a Web-based application. It can also be integrated with leading transportation and supply chain management systems.
