Kenworth is offering its passcode protected anti-theft system for the T680 and T880 models..

The system is tied to the engine and incorporated with the Kenworth Driver Performance Center, a dash-mounted information center with a 5 inch, color LCD screen that displays vehicle and engine functions.

When a driver enters the cab and turns the ignition, the Driver Performance Center prompts the driver to enter a unique passcode, allowing the truck to start. If the truck is not started within 6 minutes of entering the code, it must once again be entered.

“Recently, there have been reports of thieves trying to use jamming devices to interrupt tracking units during attempted thefts,” said Kurt Swihart, Kenworth marketing director. “The anti-theft system is an excellent way for truck fleets and operators to add an extra layer of security on top of their GPS tracking devices.”

The passcode can be changed and the system can be deactivated at any Kenworth dealership’s service department.
