ALK updated the CoPilot Truck mobile GPS navigation app with a refreshed design and full maps update.

The app was optimized for use with the larger iPhone 6 and iOS 8 operating system and has been optimized to reduce battery consumption. Additionally, CoPilot features automatic cloud backup of recent places, favorites and subscriptions as well as tools to edit trip routes.

There is also now a connection setting within the pp that enables an offline mode to control data costs.

“There is a fundamental difference in the GPS navigation needs of the truck driver as compared to tha average commuter or traveler,” said David Quin, vice president of consumer applications at ALK. “CoPilot Truck addresses these differences by providing professional drivers optimal routes.”

The 9.6.2 update integrates with the Drivewyze PreClear mobile weigh station bypass app for those drivers who also use the weigh station service. CoPilot Truck also features new ActiveRoutes that calculates routes using average road speeds at that exact time of day and day of the week to more precisely plan a trip.
