SAF Holland is expanding its offering of CBX Series air suspension and axle systems for trailers with the new CBX46 and CBX50 suspensions.

The new suspensions offer 5.75-inch-diameter axle technology with increased capacity and cast steel suspension. They are designed to offer a balance of strength and weight for better performance in on- and off-highway applications, according to SAF.

The CBX46 has a 46,000-pound capacity with upgrades to overall slider strength and rigidity. It incorporates an 80 KSI high-strength steel slider sub-frame, which SAF says yields a 31% increase in overall structural rigidity over the CBX40 slider.

It also includes a new trailing arm that is shared with the CBX 23 Air suspension axle system, which minimizes overall weight while increasing strength.

It is available in the U.S. and Canada.

The CBX50 has a 50,000-pound capacity and is designed for heavy-duty van and reefer applications. It shares the same structural improvements as the CBX46, but is further enhanced with two additional crossmembers to create a more robust slider.

It is designed with SAF’s CBX25 air suspension trailing arm for increased system strength and is also approved for use in the Mexican market.

The CBX46 and CBX50 are available with an optional SAF Integral air disc brake axle system with P89 optional wheel end package. The P89 accommodates industry-standard wide-based single wheels with up to 2 inch offsets and dual wheel configurations.

They also feature SwingAlign, which allows axle alignment to be made directly by the adjustment screw, requiring less than 250 foot-pounds of torque to adjust. Both suspension/slider systems include the QuikRelease pin pull for easy slider adjustments.

All CBX series systems come standard with Black Armour metal protection, which chemically bonds with the metal to form a skin that protects against water and anti-icing agents used on roadways that can cause corrosion.
