Western Star Truck Sales Inc. announced the availability of its 4800SB all-wheel drive model in an 8x8 axle configuration.

Suited for demanding utility, construction, government and refuse applications, the Western Star 4800SB 8x8 all-wheel drive is equipped with a two-speed transfer case which promotes gradabilit.

Spec’d with a 57,000-pound tridem rear and a 23,000-pound front axle, the 4800SB 8x8 AWD model is suited for customers operating digger derricks and other specialized heavy equipment. Additionally, the transfer case is equipped with integral air shift controls for front axle engagement and features helical gears with constant mesh to minimize operating noise.

The 4800SB 8x8 all-wheel drive truck is available with power ratings from 350 to 470 horsepower and 1250 to 1650 pounds-feet of torque and features a short 109-inch BBC to provide power and maneuverability in tight work spaces. The 4800SB is also spec’d with an air ride suspension for a more comfortable ride.
