Detroit Diesel Corp. announced the availability of it telematics products for all new Freightliner Cascadia models equipped with Cummins diesel and natural gas engines, as well as all truck makes beginning early next year.

Detroit Connect Visibility fleet software and the On-Board Tablet use the latest in commercial telematics technology to boost efficiency and driver performance, the company said.

More than 60,000 users of Freightliner and Western Star trucks with Detroit Diesels are already employing Detroit Connect products, said Joe Saccio, manager, sales and marketing for the systems at Daimler Trucks North America.

“By expanding the availability of the On-Board Tablet and Visibility fleet software to mixed fleets, we are arming all fleet managers with powerful tools that streamline communications, benefit fuel efficiency and enhance driver productivity,” he said.

Visibility fleet software monitors and delivers real-time data on the entire fleet to track the status of one or all trucks. The software generates reports with detailed information on vehicle location, speed, mileage, routes, stop times, idle times and more, to help managers adjust operations and enhance fleet productivity.

The On-Board Tablet delivers Hours-of-Service logs for reporting; two-way messaging, including text to voice; advanced navigation for asset-specific routing; and simplified pre- and post-trip inspections.

Developed on the Android platform, the On-Board Tablet’s intuitive interface, portable size and durable casing make it ideal for all applications, Saccio said. It features a colorful touch-screen display with an hours-of-service clock, and the ability to host third party apps. Purchase of the On-Board Tablet includes Visibility fleet software.
