Stoneridge has announced plans to enter the North American electronic logging device market, using its experience in the tachograph market in Europe to help fleets and drivers comply with upcoming regulations.

Stoneridge enters the ELD market with a full system offering designed to be easy to install and easy for drivers to use. Stoneridge also plans to offer a cloud-based data storage and analysis system to give fleet managers real-time access to driver and vehicle data, combined with reporting functionality.

The company has 40 years of experience in tachograph design and manufacturing, with the company’s electronics division serving the European market.

Stuart Adams, the company’s current global product manager of aftermarket, will head up the new North American division, focusing on ELDs and driver safety. He has 10 years of experience at Stoneridge.

“We understand the concerns in the industry regarding ELDs, but we want to reassure fleet operators, owner-operators and drivers that the change does not have to be a daunting one," Adams said. "With our legislative expertise, Stoneridge aims to help make the ELD introduction as seamless as possible for fleets and drivers.”
