Talbert Manufacturing updated its Traveling Axle Series, increasing hauling capacity by 5 tons and adding other improvements. The five new trailer models will replace the previous versions within the trailer series.

The 4048TA, 4050TA and 4053TA will have a 40-ton hauling capacity, while the 5548TA and 5553TA trailers can haul as much as 55 tons. The added capacity on the TA trailers will also increase flexibility, says Talbert.

The 4050TA now has an 80,000-pound evenly distributed capacity or a concentrated load capacity of 50,000 pounds in 10 feet. This will allow haulers to expand the range of load opportunities and be more efficient while complying with state hauling requirements.

TA Series trailers have a 36-inch loaded deck height to provide additional clearance for bridges and tunnels when hauling tall equipment.

All five of the new models feature Talbert’s piggy-back cylinder with a larger diameter for faster axle travel. The new models also have more keyholes on the rear of the trailer for more flexibility to tie down loads. They also have a lockable curbside gooseneck toolbox with a weather resistant door seal, a chain rack and other hardware upgrades.

TA trailers also use a metal e-chain for air and electrical lines, which Talbert says makes it easier and less expensive to add optional dock levelers as an aftermarket option.

For easier loading on the trailers' 7-degree load angle, standard for the series is a 15,000-pound planetary winch with a two-function wireless remote to assist in moving equipment on and off the trailer. This makes it possible for one person to load a piece of equipment without leaving the vehicle. The winch can be upgraded to a 20,000-pound model with a six-function remote.

TA trailers come standard with double keyhole tie-down slots on top of the outside beams and recessed in the center of the main deck. For recessed tie-downs Talbert also includes a metal basket mounted below the deck to protect the main cylinder from excess chain.

Talbert is taking orders now for the TA Series trailers and will have a booth at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. For more information on Talbert's trailer line up, click here.
