Chevron says its new Delo low-viscosity synthetic engine oil can deliver up to 4.5% fuel economy improvement.

Delo 400 LE Synthetic SAE 5W-30 is a mixed-fleet gasoline and diesel motor oil for engines where the API CJ-4 or API SN service categories and SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade are recommended. The oil is designed to meet the demands of engines using exhaust gas recirculation and selective catalytic reduction to meet emissions regulations.

The company says the new oil can deliver up to 4.5% fuel economy improvement in short-haul trucks (Class 6) and up to 2% in long-haul trucks (Class 8) compared to 15W-40 oil in SAE J1321 fuel consumption testing.

Improvements in fuel efficiency not only reduce operating expenses, they also reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

"We understand that many of our customers are focused on managing fuel costs. Lubricants can play an important role in improving fuel economy, allowing fleet owners to reduce operating costs and stay competitive," said Jim Gambill, North America Commercial and Industrial brand manager, Chevron Products Company. ent durability."

In addition to fuel economy benefits, Chevron says the new oil offers consistent cold engine starting in sub-zero temperatures, protects against wear and corrosion and provides optimum Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) life.

Delo 400 LE Synthetic SAE 5W-30 is approved for API Service Categories CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, SN; Mack EO-O Premium Plus; Renault VI RLD-3; and Volvo VDS-4. Delo 400 LE Synthetic SAE 5W-30 is also recommended for use in Caterpillar engines in off-highway or construction applications in conditions where SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade is recommended.

The new synthetic oil is formulated to work with many fuels, including low sulfur and ultra low sulfur diesel fuels, gasoline, most gasoline fuel blends, and many biofuel formulations.

Delo 400 LE Synthetic SAE 5W-30 will be available across North America in the fourth quarter of this year.
