Ahern and Associates introduced its Buyers Boot Camp to prepare owners of trucking and logistics companies to make their first acquisitions.

The new service helps buyers avoid pitfalls such as failing to meet stated objectives of increasing shareholder value and paving the way to avoiding the most common merger and acquisition mistakes.

The boot camp focuses on:

-The do's and don'ts of purchasing a trucking or logistics company
-Establishing responsibility at the policy level
-Developing an acquisition plan
-Defining an acquisition criteria
-Identifying acquisition candidates
-Pricing of target companies properly

The program also teaches owners how to make effective contact with candidates, how to perform thorough due diligence, negotiation of terms and how to effectively handle the acquisition integration.

"Mergers and acquisitions often represent a defining moment in a company's development, but in spite of the importance of these transactions, the overall track record has not been a resounding success," says Andy Ahern, the company's CEO.
