L-Ray's new MDA-48 series tire analyzing machines are being made available at a lower price point, making them more affordable to smaller retread operations.

The MDA-48 machines will use the same fast and simple Differometric technology, but with manual loading and unloading and a two-camera configuration for a base price of under (US) $100,000.

"We know that our technology is the best in the industry, but unfortunately some tire companies and smaller retread operations can't afford our full-featured, automated DVS-1220 machines," explains Lee Petrimoulx, president of L-Ray. "With that in mind, we set out to design a product that meets all of our stringent engineering and manufacturing standards, but at a lower price point."

All MDA-48 machines are 100% manufactured at L-Ray's Lake Orion, Mich. facility. The base MDA-48 machines provide crown and partial sidewall anomaly and separation detection. A four-camera, bead-to-bead option is also available. Cycle times will be only slightly longer than the industry leading DVS-1220 series, due to the manual loading and unloading.

The MDA-48 series machines will accommodate all of the same automotive, light and heavy truck tire sizes (up to 46 in. outside diameter), including wide-base single and supersingle tires. A MDA-60 series machine is scheduled to be available mid-2012 and will accommodate tires up to 58 in. diameter, to complement the existing DVS-1575 machines.
