ALK Technologies, Princeton, N.J., has partnered with uShip to offer PC*Miler as an online tool for its participating carriers.
PC*Miler is software for routing, mileage and mapping. UShip offers an interface that enables a user to enter what is being shipped, where it is and where it needs to go. Potential carriers then bid for the work.
Carriers can search available shipments for appropriate business. The uShip interface enables them to search along the route of a dispatched truck that has space available. PC*Miler enables carriers to bid for shipments making efficient use of trucks, drivers and fuel.
