OTC has announced two new diagnostic products for medium duty and heavy duty trucks.


The 3418 HD Reader is designed to provide fleet owners and professional automotive technicians who service Class 4 to Class 8 medium and heavy duty trucks with a cost-effective heavy duty standard testing solution that reads and clears diagnostic trouble codes on the latest medium and heavy-duty vehicles.

"The OTC 3418 HD Reader is the perfect tool for technicians that need a fast 'toolbox tool' to complete basic heavy-duty diagnostic procedures," said Ed Lipscomb, OTC senior product manager, diagnostic systems. "Once connected to the vehicle, technicians are able to obtain on-screen DTC definitions for generic standard codes and on-screen support in seconds. This includes support on the latest SAE J1587, J1708 and J1939 protocol standards-as well as CAN, engine, and transmission/ABS diagnostics, which can be used along with the vehicle's service manual to make repairs."

The 3418 HD Reader is field updateable through a PC connection. The kit configuration contains the HD Reader tool with Operations Manual, 6-pin and 9-pin Deutsch Cable, and a three-year warranty.

OTC also released the new Heavy-Duty Standard Deluxe Kit with System 3.0 for Genisys users who service Class 4 to Class 8 trucks.T he diagnostic software is ideal for mixed fleet service applications.

The release covers HD J1587, J1708 and J1939 standards, as well as CAN, engine, and transmission/ABS diagnostics. "This new software release covers Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Mac Trucks, International, GM, GMC, Ford and many medium and heavy duty trucks," said Lipscomb. "Transmission and ABS system coverage includes Bendix, Detroit, Eaton, Meritor WABCO, Caterpillar, Cummins, Allison and more."

The new heavy duty software is available as a Genisys upgrade kit or comes with the new Genisys Heavy Duty Master Kit.
