A “bolt-on” kit to convert medium-duty trucks to burn compressed natural gas will soon be available from California-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide. 

The company is unveiling the new line of production-ready CNG fuel systems at the National Truck and Equipment Association’s Work Truck Show, which opens tomorrow in Indianapolis.

"Quantum's systems are specifically designed for ease of installation, safety, durability and to provide maximum value and operational ease for our customers." said Brian Olson, president and CEO. 

Quantum's integrated fuel systems use its lightweight Q-Lite CNG storage systems, are available in a variety of configurations, with capacities of  24 to 64 gasoline gallon equivalents (GGE). The systems have integral fuel receptacle, pressure gauge, shut-off valves, pressure relief devices, pressure sensors, and fuel metering subsystems, including pressure regulator and thermal management.

Available fuel configurations include single, dual and triple module systems to accommodate a variety of popular medium duty truck platforms. 

It deals with natural gas and hydrogen storage and metering systems, electronic and software controls, hybrid electric drive systems, and other alternative fuel technologies for fuel efficient, low emission natural gas and hybrid, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell vehicles.

Quantum is headquartered in Lake Forest, Calif., and has operations and affiliations in the USA, Canada, Germany and India.
