Peterbilt is offering the FlowBelow Tractor AeroKit aerodynamic rear fairing system for the Model 579, beginning in the second quarter of 2017.

FlowBelow’s fairing system includes center and rear fairings combined with wheel covers to improve aerodynamic performance of the vehicle. The wheel covers work with the fairings to reduce drag that is created by exposed rotating wheels and increase fuel efficiency.
A quick-release wheel cover design with a tool-free latch allows for efficient wheel maintenance access. The company says some customers are seeing more than a 2% increase in fuel savings using its fairing system.
“The FlowBelow Tractor AeroKit rear fairing system gives our fuel-conscious customers another opportunity to optimize the aerodynamic benefits of the industry-leading Model 579,” said Scott Newhouse, Peterbilt chief engineer. “We will continue to partner with suppliers who offer our customers the resources they require to achieve maximum profitability.”
