Gray Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of portable lifting equipment, has filed a patent infringement suit against Stertil-Koni, which introduced a version of a wireless lift.

The lawsuit, filed in the Missouri Western Federal District, claims that Stertil-Koni violated U.S. Patent No. 6,634,461 and U.S. Patent No. 7,014,012, which Gray had been awarded related to the wireless technology.

The two patents both relate to the wireless system for synchronizing multiple lifting devices by means of radio communication to coordinate their lifting and lowering of a load. Gray is working on a new line of wireless mobile columns, which will be introduced soon.

Gray says Stertil-Koni introduced a version of the wireless technology at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky., in March.

"Stertil-Koni is fully aware of the Gray lawsuit and we deny infringing any valid claims of the patents in the suit," said Dr. Jean DellAmore, president of Stertil-Koni USA. "Stertil-Koni will vigorously defend itself in this matter."
