The California Trucking Association managed to get commercial vehicles exempted from California's new increases on state vehicle license fees.


The American Trucking Associations' State Laws Newsletter reports that California resolved its most urgent budget problems in an agreement that involves tax increases, including an increase in the state vehicle license fee, an in lieu of property tax collected on vehicles at registration.

The California Trucking Association managed to get commercial vehicles exempted from the increase in the fee, after showing legislators how much carriers in the state are having to pay to adjust to California's very strict environmental requirements.

A proposed increase of 12 cents a gallon in the state fuel tax rate was also dropped from the proposed budget before it was approved.
