The average price of a gallon of diesel fell almost 2 cents this week, according to weekly figures from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
A gallon of on-highway diesel (including taxes) averaged $2.291 nationwide, down 1.8 cents from last week and 97.4 cents from a year ago.
The highest average prices were reported in the New England region at $2.613. The lowest were in the Gulf Coast region at $2.227.
Crude oil prices, meanwhile, rose Wednesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange. U.S. crude for March delivery ended the day up $2.71 to $43.55 a barrel.
