Chevron Products Co. has introduced a new Texaco Syn-Star GL SAE 75W-90 designed to meet Revision C of Dana Corp.'s (Spicer Axle Division) SHAES 256 specification, which went into effect in the second quarter of 2007.

Texaco Syn-Star GL meets all major OEM warranty requirements and is recommended as a rear axle and differential lubricant in on- and off-highway vehicles when operating under severe conditions and in extremely cold or hot environments.
"Meeting major OEM and API requirements allows the use of Texaco Syn-Star GL in Dana, Eaton and Meritor axles with 500,000-mile drain intervals and 750,000-mile extended equipment warranty," said Nicole Fujishige, commercial marketing manager, Chevron Products Co. "Delivering this level of reliability and performance enables our customers to improve their bottom line."
Texaco Syn-Star® GL SAE 75W-90 offers customers a variety of benefits, including:

· Improved equipment durability
· Extended drain capabilities
· Improved thermal and oxidation stability
· Reduced churning losses
· Improved fuel economy at low operating temperatures
· Enhanced performance in a wide range of operating temperatures

The SHAES 256 Rev C specification resulted from a need for a gear lubricant that can handle greater power densities at lower operating temperatures.
Texaco Syn-Star GL oils are heavy duty, extreme pressure, multigrade automotive gear lubricants. They are manufactured from synthesized hydrocarbon base fluids that have excellent thermal and oxidation stability, a high viscosity index, and a low pour point. The low pour point of Texaco Syn-Star GL oils impart excellent lubrication during startup at subzero temperatures, while the outstanding viscosity temperature characteristics provide dependable lubrication at high temperatures.
Lower frictional losses in the lubricant film and reduced churning losses due to lower bulk oil viscosity lead to reduced operating temperatures when compared to conventional gear lubricants.
Texaco Syn-Star GL SAE 75W-90 is available in pail and drum sizes.
