Truckers are urged to take advantage of new low NOx software upgrades.
The upgrades are free for California-registered 1993-1999 model year heavy-duty diesel vehicles with eligible engines. This is a limited time offer. In the future the software may be required and the software and installation may or may not be free of charge. Most Caterpillar, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mack/Renault, Navistar, and Volvo heavy-duty diesel engines in trucks, school buses, and motor homes are eligible.
To find out if your truck is eligible, check the list of engines on the Air Resources Board (ARB) web site at www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/hdsoftware/hdsoftware.htm or contact your California dealer. If your dealer is not authorized to install low NOx software or you need more information, please contact Lisa Jennings (with ARB) at (916) 322-6913, or Staci Heaton (with the California Trucking Association) at (916) 373-3553.
