A recent rash of accidents on Interstate 85 in Anderson, S.C., has prompted a state representative to push for lowering the maximum speed limit for trucks to 65 mph.

According to the Associated Press, Rep. Becky Martin believes the speed limit should be changed because "truckers are the ones who determine the speed on the road. If a truck passes you, you immediately look down at your speedometer because you think you're going too slow."
Martin was chairwoman of the House General Highway Subcommittee that recommended raising the speed limit to 70 mph. She says she still supports the higher limit for cars.
