Both U.S. and Mexican Truckers Want to Keep Borders Closed

While the passenger bus industry clamors for open borders, Mexican truckers aren't as gung-ho about opening the borders between the United States and Mexico.
Industry insiders state that Mexican truckers don't want competition and neither do their American counterparts.
Mexican truckers argue that they cannot compete with the infrastructure and quality of U.S. fleets, U.S. truckers say they cannot compete with the low cost of Mexican fleets.
Trade secretary, Hermanio Blanco announced that NAFTA negotiations will begin within a few days to resove the border problem, however, the National Chamber of the Cargo Transport Industry insists that borders should remain closed.
