REG Acquires Wash. Biodiesel Refinery

Biodiesel producer Renewable Energy Group (REG) has completed its acquisition of substantially all the assets of Imperium Renewables, Inc., including the 100-million gallon nameplate biodiesel refinery and terminal at the Port of Grays Harbor, Wash., the company announced.

Wash. City Rolling Out CNG Garbage Trucks

The City of Spokane, Wash., has unveiled its first four compressed natural gas (CNG) powered garbage trucks, and plans to have 20 CNG trucks by the end of the year.

The state of Washington will soon be home to one of the nation’s largest privately funded propane autogas public refueling networks, and the single largest installation of alternative fuel infrastructure in the Pacific Northwest.

Fuel Tax Hike Considered in Washington

Washington could be headed in the direction of having the second highest state diesel and gasoline taxes in the nation. Legislation has been introduced in the state senate to boosting the current 37.5 cents per gallon levy by 11.5 cents, totaling 49 cents per gallon.
