Two trucking organizations have slammed a new study that calls for placing tolls on the nation’s Interstate system as a way to pay for improvements and repairs, calling tolling "a wildly unpopular concept" and just another name for a tax.

Virginia Governor Signs Bill Increasing Fuel Taxes for Transportation

The new law also limits putting tolls along the state’s section of I-95.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed legislation Monday raising billions of dollars for transportation that includes new taxes on fuel. They may go even higher depending on what happens to legislation on Capitol Hill.

Questions about whether or not trucks would see an increase in toll costs on the New York State Thruway still remain unanswered. The New York State Thruway Authority postponed a meeting, originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 9, until the following Tuesday. The authority gave no reasons for why the meeting was delayed
