Siemens Opens First Public Electric Highway in Sweden

Specially equipped Scania trucks will travel on Siemens' first eHighway system, which it has opened on a public road in Sweden on a 2-kilometer stretch of the E16 highway north of Stockholm.

Nikola Motor (as in Nikola Tesla) says it's developing a 2,000-hp turbine hybrid-electric highway tractor whose operating costs will be half that of a diesel truck.

Truck Electrification System to be Tested at Ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach

The South Coast Air Quality Management District has selected a company to install a catenary system, essentially overhead electrical lines, which supplies trucks with electric power, similar to how modern day trolleys or streetcars are powered on many city streets, while still offering the same flexibility as diesel trucks.
