U.S. House Extends Alternative-Fuel Tax Credits

The U.S. House of Representatives voted to approve the Tax Increase Prevention Act of 2014, which includes an amendment extending the federal 50-cent per gallon alternative fuels excise tax credits through the remainder of 2014, even though the credits had previously expired at the end of 2013.

Bimbo Bakeries USA is leasing 16 natural gas trucks for its California trucking fleet. Bimbo has a fueling agreement in place with Clean Energy Fuels to fuel the fleet of Class 8, heavy-duty trucks using Clean Energy's network of public-access CNG stations throughout Northern California.

Report: 14% of Medium, Heavy Duty Vehicles Sold in 2035 Will Run on Alternative Fuels

Medium and heavy duty vehicles represent less than 5% of the total vehicle market today, and the vast majority of these use conventional internal combustion engines powered by either gasoline or diesel. That is changing as less expensive alternatives to petroleum-based fuels, such as natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas and electricity make inroads in the market.

Minnesota Ups Biodiesel Mandate to 10%

The state agriculture industry has been a big supporter of Minnesota's biodiesel mandate.

Starting Tuesday, Minnesota, the first state to require biodiesel be blended with diesel sold in the state, will require all diesel fuel in the state to contain 10% biodiesel.
