Three More Guilty Pleas in Federal Pilot Flying J Investigation

More guilty pleas were secured on Monday as part of the federal probe into truckstop mega-chain Pilot Flying J, taking the total number up to 10 so far. Brian Mosher, the former national director for sales, admitted to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud before a federal judge in Knoxville.

Average Diesel Cost Increases for First Time in Three Weeks

The cost of diesel has increased 3.1 cents from a week ago, the first in three weeks, for an average of $3.904 per gallon, according to new figures from the U.S. Energy Department.

Con-way Freight Expands Freightliner Natural Gas-Powered Tractors in its Fleet

 A new Freightliner Cascadia 113 day cab leaves a natural gas fueling station in Rock Hill, S.C. after taking on its first fill-up of compressed natural gas (CNG). Con-way Freight, one of the nation's leading commercial trucking firms, took delivery of the unit recently and is putting it into service in the Texas market. Featuring the Cummins Westport ISX 12 G natural gas-powered engine, it's Freightliner's first Cascadia 113 day cab with factory installed tanks to go into service.

Con-way Freight has added Freightliner Cascadia 113 natural gas-powered tractors to its fleet. Freightliner began production of the Freightliner Cascadia 113 natural gas-powered tractors in August 2013, and these Con-way Freight units are the first Cascadia day cabs with factory-installed compressed natural gas tanks to hit the road.

Average Fuel and Oil Costs Forecast to be Lower in 2014

Expect the cost of on-highway diesel to average $3.81 per gallon this year, 11 cents less than 2013’s average price. The new monthly U.S. Energy Department Short-Term Energy Outlook is calling for the price to be even less in 2015, averaging $3.72 per gallon.
