Historically the decision for fleets making the transition to natural gas was not necessarily a choice. They had to make the investment to meet local Clean Air regulations if they wanted to continue to stay in business. Now however, more and more shippers and carriers are making the change for other reasons, like meeting corporate sustainability goals and not having to rely on guessing how much diesel is going to be next month.

Some of the most respected names in the industry have made significant investments over the last few years in switching to Natural Gas. Saddle Creek Logistics Services just announced that its fleet of 200 heavy-duty CNG trucks reached the 50 million-mile mark in October, with plans to transition more diesel trucks.

Raven Transport's recent acquisition of 115 LNG trucks, allows the Jacksonville, Fl.-based carrier to meet the challenge of moving customer goods with clean-burning fuels, according to Stephen Silverman, chief operating officer for Raven.

In addition to fleet owners, operators have also taken the journey from using the old industry standard of diesel, to understanding both the tangible and intangible benefits of driving with natural gas.

That’s why we invite you to watch our latest Clean Energy video titled "Big Rig Drivers Discover Natural Gas." Like many, he too was resistant to change and skeptical about the capabilities of a "big truck running on natural gas." Follow along as we listen to a long-haul trucker discuss this transition.

He quickly comes to understand how the change makes perfect sense. Natural gas is made right here in the U.S., it costs less, and the driver doesn’t smell like diesel at the end of the day. Ultimately, this owner-operator comes to realize that often times we must change to preserve what is most important to us.

In 2014 Clean Energy constructed more than 60 natural gas fueling stations across North America, bringing the number of stations in the Americas Natural Gas Highway™ to over 540. From the ports of Long Beach, CA, across to Pearl, MS, and north to Ontario, Canada, our network is designed to keep fleets moving from coast to coast.

We build these stations for our customers, some of the transportation industry’s foremost leaders in both innovation and in meeting today’s environmental challenges. We are proud to stand by shippers, carriers, and operators, who are the core of our business here at Clean Energy.
