Magellan’s RoadMate Commercial 5190T-LM has been updated with more comprehensive protocol support for fleet management and tracking features.

The latest update adds support for hours of service, international fuel tax agreements, automatic onboard recording, and individual vehicle and driver profiles.

“With its extensive list of protocol support, having the RoadMate Commercial 5190T-LM in the cab is like having a personal assistant along for the ride,” said Tom Rasulo, director of business development at Magellan. “Its mobile data terminal capability enhances the two-way dispatch-driver information delivery with seamless connectivity to in-vehicle telematics transponder devices.”

Other new features of the update include:

  • Text message protocols for sending and receiving messages between driver and office.
  • Destination protocols to receive and display new stops sent from the office.
  • Estimated time of arrival protocols.
  • Multi-destination protocols that allow the office to send up to 12 destinations to the driver.
  • Status protocols that show up-to-the-minute vehicle location, including current GPS position and time to go to next destination.
  • Auto arrival protocol that automatically detects when a driver has arrived at a stop.

The RoadMate Commercial 5190T-LM is currently available in the U.S. and Canada and retails for $329.99. It will be on display at the 2104 ATA MC&E event from Oct. 5-7 in San Diego at booth 344.
