The 34th Annual Shell Rotella SuperRigs event will be held June 9-11 at the Joplin Convention Center in Joplin, Mo., the company announced. It includes a truck beauty contest for actively working trucks, and a downtown parade on the night of June 10.

Owner-operator truckers from across the United States and Canada compete for cash and prizes in excess of $25,000, said David Waterman, Shell’s North American marketing manager for Rotella. Twelve of the trucks will be selected to be featured in the 2017 Shell Rotella SuperRigs calendar.

The contest was last held in Joplin in 2012, and since then a massive tornado struck the city, causing extensive damage downtown and in other areas. Shell helped raise recovery money through Super Rigs, Waterman said.

Judging this year will be done by journalists and announcers from major trucking publications and broadcast companies. Judges will score the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail/finish, originality and workmanship, In total, 24 working trucks receive awards for categories such as Best of Show, Tractor, Tractor/Trailer Combination and Classic.

Contestants' trucks are working rigs carefully maintained by their owners. This is one of the entries from the 2012 event in Joplin.
