The Senate unanimously confirmed Greg Nadeau as Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration on August 5. He was nominated by President Obama for the post back in May.

Nadeau has served as the agency’s Deputy Administrator since 2009.  From July 2014 to February 2015, he also served as FHWA’s Acting Administrator.

Prior to joining FHWA, Nadeau held executive positions with the Maine Department of Transportation from 2002 to 2009, including Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Planning and Communications.

His other governmental experience includes holding a seat in the Maine House of Representatives from 1978 to 1990 and serving as a Senior Policy Advisor to Maine Gov. Angus King from 1995 to 2002. Nadeau is a native of Lewiston, Me.

“Greg Nadeau is the right person to lead the Federal Highway Administration. He is a true leader whose experience and strength of character position him to lead this critical agency into the future,” said Senators King (I) and Susan Collins (R) in a joint statement on his confirmation. “We are delighted the Senate unanimously approved his nomination and look forward to working with him to modernize America’s highway system.”
