Omnitracs, LLC, a provider of fleet-management solutions, launched on Monday an informational website on the upcoming electronic logging device mandate-- www.ELDfacts.com.
The company said that with the final rule slated to be published in September, it decided to put up “a one-of-its-kind online resource center,” offering free of charge news, blogs, case studies, video tutorials, FAQ etc. to help fleets make sense of the ruling.
“From scouring through pages and pages of regulations, to trying to make sense of the word on the street, zeroing in on accurate information regarding the ELD ruling can be daunting,” said Tom Cuthbertson, Omnitracs’ Vice President of Regulatory Compliance.
“Leveraging our team of experts, we’re breaking down the regulation and deciphering what it all means for fleets managers and drivers," he continued.”ELDfacts.com is designed to be the one stop shop for industry professionals in need of answers.”
Enforcement of the ELD rule will commence two years after it is published by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
However, Cuthbertson told HDT, here in Cincinnati at the National Private Truck Council meeting, that he expects the rule will have a grandfather clause.
“As I understand it, if that’s included in the rule, fleets that have already adopted ELDs will be able to use those for another two years—until 2019— before they must switch over to devices compliant with the regulation,” he explained.
