Louisville, Ky. — Navistar International Truck announced that beginning next month, the new Bendix Wingman Fusion integrated driver-safety system will be available on its International ProStar Class 8 truck models.
Bendix Wingman Fusion combines a suite of Bendix advanced safety technologies— radar, camera, vehicle braking and the supplier’s SafetyDirect system into what Navistar termed “a comprehensive driver-assistance system more powerful than any other system or combination of safety technologies in the commercial vehicle industry today.”
“We’re committed to providing our customers with industry-leading technologies and bringing them to market quickly,” said Denny Mooney, Navistar senior vice president, product development. “Being the first to introduce the Bendix Wingman Fusion to our heavy-duty lineup is an important step toward that goal.”
The new Bendix system gathers inputs to create a detailed and accurate “data picture” for the driver, according to Mooney. “The combination of road-tested, fleet-proven Bendix components and systems, along with the unmatched quality of our trucks, provides a number of advantages for our customers,” he said. “We’re excited to partner with Bendix to offer our customers leading-edge technology.”
Wingman Fusion will be available for order on the ProStar sleeper next month, and will be in production in May. The ProStar daycab and LoneStar models will follow with the new system later in 2015.
