ABF Logistics acquired the privately held truckload brokerage firm Smart Lines Transportation Group for $5.17 million in cash. The acquisition of the Oklahoma City-based company will expand ABF's third-party logistics operations into the Oklahoma City market.

Jim Ingram, president of ABF Logistics, called the deal “an important step in our strategy to grow the emerging businesses at ArcBest and provide a variety of supply chain services to our customers."

Smart Lines founder and President Greg Roush will be the branch director of the Oklahoma City location, now officially known as ABF Logistics since the acquisition became effective on Jan. 2. Roush has 30 years of experience in the trucking industry, primarily focused in the truckload segment.

“Our current and future customers are gaining greater access to more resources through ABF Logistics and its sister companies ABF Freight and Panther Premium Logistics," said Roush.

ABF Logistics is a subsidiary of ArcBest Corp., providing third-party logistics services including brokerage, intermodal, ocean transport, transportation management, warehousing and household moving.
