PeopleNet announced that it has updated its software to suspend the July 1, 2013 34-hour restart provisions. As part of the recent restart suspension, software companies have been scrambling to update software to meet the latest standards for HOS logging.

Once a driver completes a Logout/Leave/Login on their device’s display, the system will automatically recalculate the driver’s last cycle and apply the new requirements for a 34-hour restart. The process wil clear all invalid cycle violations and provide the correct cycle hours. The correct hours are available on the in-cab display and on the PeopleNet Fleet Manager.

Because the suspension went into effect on Dec. 16th, PeopleNet gave instructions for drivers whose last 34-hour off period was on Dec. 14th or 15th.

  • If operating on a 60/7 cycle: Drivers should complete a Logout/Leave/Login after their terminal start time on Dec. 23, 2014.
  • If operating on a 70/8 cycle: Drivers should complete a Logout/Leave/Login after their terminal start time on Dec. 24, 2014.
  • For drivers who have taken a 34-hour off period on or after Dec. 16, 2014, they can complete a Logout/Leave/Login at any time.

Drivers are now able to view the HOS Summary screen to validate that they no longer have access to the "34 Hr Reset Start and Complete" line items after they complete a Logout/Leave/Login. Taking these steps will ensure that drivers are operating under current federal regulations.
