Digi International elected Ron Konezny to be the president and CEO of the company effective Dec. 17, 2014. The previous president and CEO, Joseph T. Dunsmore, recently annoucned plans to retire.

“I am excited to join the Digi team and lead the company forward in the wireless M2M and internet of things marketplace,” said Konezny.

Konezny was previously the vice president of the global transportation and logistics division of Trimble Navigation. Prior to that Konezny was the co-founder and CEO of PeopleNet which was purchased by Trimble in 2011.

Konezny also worked as a senior consultant for Cap Gemini Ernst and Young Consulting specializing in international telecommunications. He received a Bachelors of Arts degree from Northwestern University.

“Ron has a proven leadership record of growth profitability and solution innovations and knows the wireless M2M industry well,” said Ahmed Nawaz, independent lead director of the board at Digi. “The board conducted a comprehensive search process and is confident that Ron has the experience, leadership and vision to propel Digi forward.”
