SAN DIEGO -- Volvo is donating a VNL 780 truck to the ATA’s America’s Road Team and will continue as the sole sponsor of the trucking industry safety outreach program.

The announcement was made at the ATA MC&E event in San Diego by Goran Nyberg, president of marketing and sales at Volvo Trucks North America.

“Volvo Trucks is proud to again be the exclusive sponsor of the America’s Road Team program,” said Nyberg. “We applaud their efforts to share the trucking industry’s message of safety, environmental sustainability and the vital role trucks play in our economy.”

The 2015 Volvo VNL being donated will feature some of Volvo’s newest safety technologies including adaptive cruise control with integrated collision avoidance, electronic stability and Volvo’s I-shift automated manual transmission.

The truck will be driven by the program’s Road Team captains which will be selected in January 2015 and will be used to haul the ATA’s Image trailer, which the organization uses as an interactive space for presentations.
